To reduce waste and make the best use of resources on our planet, the IAM has been promoting the Waste Separation and Recycle Program since the end of 1999. Garbage bins in three different colors – blue for waste paper, yellow for aluminum cans and brown for plastic bottles – were set up at the collection points for the purpose of collecting recyclable refuse. The early stage of the program focused on publicity in schools before gradually expanding its reach to associations, commercial organizations and government departments. Other measures included setting up collection points in many other areas of the city. Since its launch, the program has contributed to the continued increase of recycle rate and the number of units committing to the recycling. Since 2005, IAM has been promoting the program for the recycling of household waste in different communities by facilitating the recycling process for residents, so as to improve the recycling of refuse and to create environmentally friendly homes.
